Whole Child Curriculum
Goldwyn Time
Our Social and Emotional Curriculum
Goldwyn Time is a core part of our school day and plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional and communication needs of our pupils. It provides a calm, structured and nurturing space that helps every learner feel settled, regulated and ready to engage.
A Purposeful Start to the Day
Goldwyn Time allows staff to meet immediate needs, check in with pupils and ensure that the foundations for learning—safety, belonging and emotional readiness—are firmly in place.
Supporting SEMH and Communication Needs
The session is designed and structured to address the prime areas of need for many of our learners identified in EHCP’s delivering interventions and explicit teaching to support Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Communication and Interaction and physical and sensory challenges.
Safeguarding and Pastoral Care
Goldwyn Time provides an important opportunity for early safeguarding and pastoral intervention. Staff can identify concerns quickly, offer support and ensure that our most vulnerable pupils feel seen, heard and supported from the moment they arrive.
Removing Barriers to Learning
Goldwyn time is planned to prepare students for the day and be ready to begin their day. By focusing on emotional regulation, self‑esteem and readiness for learning, Goldwyn Time helps to:
- Reduce anxiety and dysregulation
- Increase engagement and participation
- Build resilience and independence
- Remove barriers that may impact learning throughout the day
This proactive approach ensures that students begin each day feeling safe, valued and prepared to succeed.
